In Downtown Plymouth is a Heartland Artists Gallery that was originally built in 1895 for Mr. Horace Corbin, Plymouth’s first mayor, state senator, and district judge. The building costed 10,000 dollars to build. Definitely costly enough for a mayor. Too bad he never used it. Shortly after it was constructed, Corbin sold it to Mr. Peter Richard who named the building. On the lower level, was a barber shop and above that were law offices. The “Bee Hive building” ( it got the nickname “the Bee Hive building” because of the round corner turret) also operated a Dry Goods store along with the barber shop and offices. There was a staircase on the outside that led to the offices for easy access, but no longer exists. Right now the building is being used for the Heartland Artists Gallery and exhibits many different pieces like real-life photographs, quilt canvases, abstract paintings, and so much more.
